Thought for Today – A Ministry of John Palatucci

Good morning

Thought for today

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) God’s Word is living. It is active, it is effective, it is incisive. It is sharper than a two edged sword. First-century soldiers used an incredible weapon, a large, heavy, sharp double-edged sword. The combined weight and sharpness of this sword was so great that a soldier could slice right through the bones of his enemy, severing his limbs. Such a sword could slice a bone open and leave the marrow inside exposed to our view. Not only is it a weapon we can use against the enemy, it’s a surgical instrument we can use on ourselves. It is “Spiritual Therapy” and “Physical Therapy” as well. The Bible untangles flesh from faith. It manicures motives. When we study it, we train our heart and mind to differentiate between what is heavenly and what is human. Every fisherman knows it’s best to use live bait, and the Word of God is live bait. It wiggles in the water. It shimmers in the dark. It takes hold of those who seek it. It is alive today. Amen?

Lord God, thank You for the power of Your Word. For the weapon it is against the enemy. That it can open even the hardest of hearts. Thank You for the healing power of Your Word as well. Help me today, to read it, to study it and to apply it to my life. May I use it with confidence, to be a fisher of men and not just a tanle center piece, but a center piece of my Christian walk. In Jesus name,

Blessings in Christ
