A) The hour of opportunity had come
Jesus went through 6 trials
A) before the scribes and the elders
3 religious trials:
Matthew 26:57-68
Mark 14:53-65
Luke 22:66-71
John 18:12-14 (19-24)


B) Jesus faced Pilate and Herod
3 civil trials
Pontas Pilate
Matthew 27:1-2 (1 1-14)
Mark 15:1-5

C) The suffering that began in such an hour
In the garden:

Luke 22:39-46
Matthew 26:36-46
Mark 14:32-42
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives as He was accustomed
Jesus agonized over His approaching death and the effect of God’s wrath
God’s answer to Jesus prayer did not allow His Son to avoid suffering
However, God did provide Angelic help for Jesus to face what was coming
Sometimes, God answers by eliminating trials and sometimes He answers by strengthening us in the
midst of those trials
David
2 Samuel 15:30-32
David son had just lead a revolt in his own kingdom against him and was actually headed to take
it by force
David immediately got everyone in his home to leave and escape danger
A blessing
2 Samuel 16:1-4
A curse
2 Samuel 16:5-14
David was devastated at the news that his son wanted to kill him
but David knew that this had come about from God for his sin with Bathsheba (2 Sam 12:11)
and he took it as part of the discipline from God
God still chastised him but He also strengthened him in his time of need (2 Sam 16:1-4)

The ascent on the Mount of Olives
David for his sins
Jesus for our sins
Jesus Praying for this cup to pass and for God’s will to be done
Luke 22:39-46
David Weeping because the cup had come to pass upon him from his sin (2 Sam 11, 12:13-15) (15)
2 Samuel 15:30
Jesus
Cursed by everyone who surrounded Him
Luke 22:63-65
David Cursed by Shemei for his sins
2 Samuel 16:5-12
Jesus
Rejected by His own creation (John 1:10-11) and betrayed by His closest friends
Mark 14:43-50
David Rejected by his own son
2 Samuel 15
David Already a king. Brought back to his throne
2 Samuel 19:9-18
Jesus
Already a King. Brought back from death to sit on His Throne
John 18:36 Philippians 2:5-10
David Crowned with majesty to be king over his people
2 Samuel 2:1-7
Jesus
Crowned with thorns to be King for all time!!!!!
